OUR SON'S ROOM/ TEMPORARY NURSERY

Happy Friday!
It has been a looong week of work and chores for us, we even had "jury duty" to content with,
so we are really looking forward to the weekend.
We are expecting lots of rain for the next couple of days, but we can't complain, our weather has been gorgeous
and full of sunshine. Our temperatures reached the 80's just this past Wednesday.
A rainy weekend is just a great time for some indoor projects. :)

As you all know, we are getting ready for the arrival of our son and his wife. After five years of Navy life, he decided to put to good use in the civilian world all the schooling and training he has received during his military time.
The will be home in just four weeks and if everything goes according to plan, their first son
will be born two weeks later.

They will be staying with us while she recuperates and they find their new home.
No complains here since I have not seen my son in 12 months. :(
Many changes had to be done around here. Every other room in this house is taken, so we had to make due
with the space we have available.
This is his room.

KITCHEN ORGANIZING

Hello, everyone!
I hope you are all doing well.

It seems that during the whole month of January, all I have done is organized our home.
I have gone through about every closet in the house.
The house feels "lighter", but the trash company is not liking me much about right now. :)

And in the last few days I finally have been able to clean and organized our kitchen.
There is a reason for all this madness, you see, our son and his wife will be coming home for good in about five weeks, and soon after, our grandson will be born.

We have busy times ahead of us with six adults and a newborn baby living under one roof but I plan to enjoy every minute of it, not worrying about what needs to get done at home, just enjoying our family being
complete again at last. :)

Back to organizing! :)

Our kitchen island also serves as great storage.
Underneath it, I store all my pots and pans and the two large drawers hold our everyday silverware
and kitchen utensils.

THE FAMILY ROOM, FOR NOW

Hello, everyone!
Little by little, our home has returned to normal after taking down all the holiday decor.
No matter how much I clean, I am still finding glitter and pine needles in our family room :)

I have plans for this room before Spring and I will start the changes soon, but for now, this is what the room looks like.
Just clean and comfortable.

DIY PAPER BOXWOOD WREATH

Hello, dear friends.
I hope your week is going well.

Today I am sharing a quick project I put together last week.
Browsing through Pinterest, I came across this link on how to make a paper boxwood wreath.
I found it on a blog I had never visited before. Beautiful blog, by the way.
Diane at In My Own Style  shared a wonderful tutorial on how to make your own paper boxwood wreath,
so I decided to give it a try.

OUR KITCHEN AFTER THE HOLIDAYS

Hello, everyone!
I have to tell you taking all the Christmas decorations down has been a job and a half. :)
I think the hard part has been to store everything back in place, for some reason, my bins have multiplied. :)

That brought me to have to clean our storage space to make room for everything. What a disaster!
I am happy to say, after almost two weeks of continued work, the house is now back in order. WOW!

Of course, everything feels really empty and without color after all the bright lights and colors of Christmas.
Anyway, today I am sharing with you a glimpse of our kitchen cleaned and ready for the winter months.

AN EASY WAY TO TRANSFER AN IMAGE TO WOOD

This is nothing new, it has been done over and over again, but it is new to me since I never tried
to transfer an image  to wood.

I took it a step further and after a little investigating online :) I figured out how to transfer one
of my own pictures. It was so super easy!
Here is a tutorial on how I did this.
